Kristine "Kris" Leanne Zirbes, 58, of Rock Island, died Thursday, November 16, 2017 at UnityPoint Health – Trinity, Rock Island.  Cremation rites were accorded.  A memorial service will be 11 a.m. Monday, November 20, 2017 at Wheelan-Pressly Funeral Home and Crematory, 3030 7th Ave., Rock Island.  Visitation will be from 10-11 a.m. Monday at the funeral home.  Memorials may be made in care of the QC Animal Welfare Center, Milan.

Kris was born February 5, 1959 in Moline, a daughter of Joseph and Carol Tebbe Yuris.  She was a graduate of Rock Island High School and attended Black Hawk College.  Kris married James Zirbes in Rock Island on December 20, 2002.

Kris worked at Bituminous Insurance Companies for 30 years.

Kris loved and enjoyed her furry, four-legged animal babies and provided a loving home to many homeless dogs and cats.  She was a very caring, compassionate and warm person with a beautiful soul and enough love to encompass all animals.

Kris enjoyed working in her flower gardens and cooking and baking delicious meals.  She had a passion for traveling with her family and friends to her favorite places in four continents.  She enjoyed her many cruises to exotic places, especially the beautiful islands and beaches of Tahiti, the Caribbean, the Greek Islands and Mexican Riviera.

She will be missed by her husband, James Zirbes, Rock Island; mother, Carol Yuris, Rock Island; sister and brother-in-law, Kathleen and Thomas Lindquist, Phoenix, Ariz.; aunt, Eleanor Sims, Denver, Co. and aunt and uncle Joyce and Alan Tebbe, Moline; numerous cousins and friends; and her dog, Jake and cat, Miles.

She was preceded in death by her father, maternal grandparents, Alvin and Pearl Tebbe and numerous aunts, uncles and cousins.
