LaMona M. Heggen, 78, of Rock Island, passed away on Friday, June 27, 2014 at her home surrounded by her family. Services will be 10:00 a.m. Tuesday at Good Shepherd Presbyterian Church, Rock Island. Visitation will be from 4 to 7 pm Monday at Wheelan-Pressly Funeral Home, Rock Island. Burial will be in Chippiannock Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made in care of The American Cancer Society or Boy Scout Troop #243.

LaMona M. Poggenpohl was born on November 18, 1935 in Des Moines, Iowa, the daughter of Edwin C. Ratledge and Leona F. Poggenpohl. She married Charles C. Heggen on June 21, 1953 in Des Moines, Iowa. LaMona worked for the Rock Island School System for over 20 years in the cafeteria. She was a member of Good Shepherd Presbyterian Church, Rock Island, the local Hallmark Club and was the past president of the Edison Junior High School PTA. She was also an integral part of starting a parent's group at Earl Hanson Elementary School. LaMona greatly enjoyed spending time with her family, counted cross-stitching, and genealogy.

Left to cherish her memory are her husband of over 61 years, Charles; children, Charles (Robbin) Heggen, Jr., Rock Island, Michael (Carmen) Heggen, Tampa, FL, Dennis (Patricia) Heggen, Rock Island, Deborah Heggen, Rock Island and Randall (Elizabeth) Heggen, Rock Island; grandchildren, Charles III (Angela) Heggen, Jason (Amber) Heggen, Tiffany Heggen, Joshua Heggen, Jeffery Heggen, Elizabeth Heggen (fiance Nels Hanson), Bryan Smith, Christopher (Lisa) Heggen, Daniel Heggen, Sarah (Aaron Carlin) Heggen, William Heggen, Samuel Heggen, Hilary Heggen, and Matthew and Michell Erickson; great-grandchildren, Charles IV, Emilie, MacKenzie, Ashlie, Lynzie, Jason Jr., Ella, LaMon, Devin, Nora, Sophia, Isabel, Julienne, Jackson, and their spoiled Schnauzer, Bridget.

She was preceded in death by her parents and a half-brother, Edward Ratledge.
