LaNeva M. Birkel, 92, of East Moline, formally of Rock Island,  passed away on Saturday, November 25, 2023, at Park Vista, East Moline, IL.

A visitation will be held from 10:00 am to 11:00 am on Monday December 4, 2023, at Wheelan-Pressly Funeral Home and Crematory, Rock Island. Burial will be in Rock Island Memorial Park. Memorials may be made in LaNeva's name to Habitat for Humanity.

LaNeva was born on September 8, 1931, in Arlington, South Dakota, the daughter of William and Milda (Ross) Marlier. She married George Birkel on July 17, 1954, in Moline, IL. LaNeva worked as an accountant and office worker for Ruhl and Ruhl Insurance as well as Paul Johnson Insurance for over 40 years. She enjoyed reading, playing cards, crocheting and traveling.

Those left to cherish her memory include her daughters, Darcy Loete and Lisa Birkel; son, Todd (Lynda) Birkel; grandchildren, Eric Diehl, Angela Diehl, and Stephanie Loete; great-grandchildren, Alexandria, Ella, and Parker; and sibling, Larry (Pam) Marlier. She was preceded in death by her parents, husband, brother, Donald (Lucille) Marlier, and sister, Elaine (Albert) DeFauw.
