Larry Russell Dixon, Sr., 75, of Seattle, Washington, passed away peacefully on August 15, 2025.

A memorial service will be held at 12:00 pm on Wednesday, September 10, 2025, at Wheelan-Pressly Funeral Home and Crematory, Rock Island. Burial will be in Rock Island National Cemetery, Arsenal Island. Memorials may be made in care of the family.

Larry was born on January 22, 1950, in Chicago, the son of Betty Lou and Walter Dixon. He married Gwendolyn Marie Arrington on Oct. 9, 1994, in Moline and she preceded him in death.

He graduated from Wethersfield High School in Kewanee in 1968, and while attending there he played basketball and football. After graduation he attended Black Hawk College where he also played basketball. Following that he went into the Army for a short period of time before being discharged on medical leave. He moved to the Quad Cities where he worked on the railroad for a while and did carpentry work as well.

He was a member of the Hercules Masonic Lodge in Seattle. One of the duties he truly loved through this lodge was serving his community in various ways. He was also Worshipful Grand Steward for the Prince Hall Grand Lodge, Washington and Jurisdiction.

He coached a women's softball team in East Moline for several years. He also coached his daughter's little league softball teams in Seattle.

Those left to cherish his memory are his children, Larry Russell Dixon Jr., LaWanna (Theodis) Nicol Gammage, Lance (Eloisa) Russell Dixon, and Larenn Gabriel Betty Dixon; grandchildren, Samantha, Tianna, Sarai, Esaias, Perry, Malik, Lance II, and Aizen; siblings, Walter (Cassandra) Dixon, Stephanie Dixon, and Renee Dixon-Comodore; several nieces, nephews, and cousins; and step-children, Grace Tisino, Lucresha Taylor, and Joseph White.

Larry was preceded in death by his wife and parents.
