Larry James Garrard, 60, of Atlanta, Georgia, formerly of Rock Island, departed from this world on November 4, 2024.

A memorial service will be held at 11:00 am on Friday, December 6th, 2024 at Gaines Chapel A.M.E. Church, 311 19th St. East Moline, IL. Visitation will be from 9:00 to 11:00 am on Friday at church. Inurnment will be in Chippiannock Cemetery, Rock Island. Memorials may be left in care of the family. Wheelan-Pressly Funeral Home and Crematory, Rock Island is assisting the family.

Larry entered this world on April 18, 1964, a son of Lois Garrard and James McCoy. He graduated from Rock Island High School in 1983. Larry worked at the Sheraton throughout high school. He moved to Atlanta, Georgia in 1985. Larry worked as a chef and later at a car dealership.

Those left to cherish Larry's memory include his mother, Lois Whitaker; father, "Pops" Ira Whitaker; daughters, LaQuisha Washington and Kaleesha Washington; sons, Zamier Harris, Larry Jr. and Logan; granddaughters, Damiya and Laniya Lewis; sisters, Veronica Garrard, Phyllis McCoy and Annette McCoy; brothers, Terry (Betty), Tonie, Tim, Kelvin and Rodney Garrard; aunts, Creta (Robert) Carrol and Enda Robinson; uncles, Homer and John Waters; a host of nieces and nephews; cousins, Cassandra, Dionne Kee, Gary Kee, James Kee; and friend, Junior Dickerson.

Larry was preceded in death by his grandmother, Lorain Moore; great grandmother and great grandfather, Mae and Eugene Kee; uncles, Phil and Mike Water; great uncles, James and Lonnie Kee; and great aunt, Irene Crittenden.

The family would like to thank the Team Larry Garrard Go Fund Me team, Larry and Lois, Angel- Diane Robinson, best friend Walt, Mr. and Mrs. Robert Glove, all fraternal organizations, church and friends.
