Larry Franklin Moore, 82, of Coal Valley, IL, passed away Thursday, February 5, 2026 at home surrounded by his family.
Visitation will be held from 4:00 to 6:00 pm Thursday, February 12, 2026 at Wheelan-Pressly Funeral Home and Crematory, Milan, IL. A Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 11:00 am Friday, February 13, 2026 at St. Teresa of Calcutta Parish - St. Ambrose Campus, Milan, IL. Larry was born December 10, 1943 in Salisbury, MO, the son of William and Juanita (Lawrence) Moore. After graduating high school, Larry graduated from the University of Missouri with a degree in Agricultural Engineering, and later obtained a Master’s Degree in Business Administration from the University of Iowa. Larry was a United States Army Veteran. He married Linda Graybeal on May 5, 1973 in Logansport, IN. He was an engineer at John Deere for over 36 years. He was a member of the American Society of Agricultural Engineers (ASAE), Western Illinois Area Agency on Aging (WIAAA) and mentored a high school FIRST Robotics team. He also served his community by regularly donating blood through ImpactLife for many decades. Larry was always ready with his tools, his wisdom or a helping hand for his friends or family members in need. Also lovingly known as Pop or Uncle Larry, he was a father figure to many. Larry enjoyed projects at home and abroad, often called MacGyver by his loved ones for his unique solutions. What he loved most was spending time with his family and friends, and, of course, the occasional whiskey and cigar. Larry will be remembered on his John Deere tractor, working on the acreage that he loved and tended, and for his service to others.
Survivors include his wife, Linda; children, James Moore, St Louis, MO, Maria Welch, Coal Valley, IL, Elizabeth (Frans) Roskam, Libourne, France; grandchildren, Emilia, Madeleine, Beatrix, Caitlin and Thomas; brother, Jon (Sarah) Moore, Salisbury, MO; and his many nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his parents, William and Juanita, and sister, Beverly Cooksey.
