Laura D. Franklin, 54, of Rock Island, passed away Friday, January 14, 2022, at UnityPoint Health-Trinity, Rock Island. Visitation will be from 9:30 to 10:30 a.m. Friday, January 21, 2022, at St. Pius X Catholic Church, Rock Island. A Mass of Christian Burial will follow the visitation at 10:30 a.m. on Friday at St. Pius X Catholic Church, Rock Island. Burial will be in Moline Memorial Park Cemetery. Wheelan-Pressly Funeral Home and Crematory, Rock Island is assisting with arrangements. Memorials may be made to the family.

Laura was born on August 25, 1967, in Sterling, a daughter of Roy "Gene" and Kathleen (Verdegen) Franklin. She graduated from Rock Island High School, Class of 1985. Laura worked at Target for many years and most recently worked as a pharmacy tech at CVS Pharmacy. She was a member of St. Pius X Catholic Church in Rock Island. Laura enjoyed volunteering at the Quad City Animal Welfare Center and traveling to the Rocky and Smoky mountains.

Those left to cherish Laura's memory include her daughter, Julia Franklin; very special grandson, Andrew Franklin; parents, Roy "Gene" and Kathleen Franklin; sister, Lisa (Troy Sr.) Nimmers; nieces and nephews, Ebonie (Vernon) Wilmington, Aundrea (David) Bell, Marcus McCall, Michael McCall, Tori Nimmers, Troy Nimmers Jr., and Tatyana Nimmers; aunt and uncle, Judy and Neil Bartlett; aunt, Eunice Schorpp; cousins, David Bartlett, Dale Bartlett, Karen Duvejonck, Jill (John) Taylor, Doug Schorpp, and John Schorpp; and several extended family members and friends.

Laura was preceded in death by her nephew, Dwight McCall Jr.; and maternal and paternal grandparents.
