Laura Genett Elewovem (Walker) was born on July 23, 1963 in Italy, Texas, the daughter of Maxie E. Young and Laura B. Walker. Laura passed away on October 5, 2019 at the University of Iowa Medical Center as a result of numerous medical issue. Laura retired from her profession at Oscar Myer as a food service technician located in Davenport Iowa as a result of traumatic health concerns.
Funeral services will be 1:00pm Monday October 21, 2019 at Wheelan Pressly Funeral Home and Crematory, 3030 7th Avenue, Rock Island. Visitation will be from 12:00pm to service time at the funeral home.
Despite her continued health concerns, Laura continued her quest to be a devote servant by lending her time to the American Red Cross and the Rock Island community as an altruistic helping hand to society.
Laura being a faithful Christian was an avid member of Grace City Church in Rock Island, IL where she was an active member of the congregation ensuring that all members of the church also enjoyed her love of the Lord.
Aside from her love of God and Family, Laura was a loyal fan of her beloved Chicago Bears Football Team, LA Lakers Basketball Team, KC Royals Baseball Team, cooking, playing bingo, reading and arts and crafts.
Laura was the oldest of eight siblings consisting of: Terrance (Tyrone) Smith, Tracy Morrison, Grey Young, Rhonda Young, Maxie Young Jr, Rayla Morrison, Raystell Walker, and Lisa Boyd (Walker).
Additionally, Laura leaves behind two sons, Jamie Walker, Byron Porter, Stepdaughter Bianca Miller, Grandsons Isaiah Houston, Bryson Walker, Spiritual Sister Julia Brown and Daughter-in-Law Soraya Talley.
Proceeded in death Laura joins Mother Laura B. Walker, Father Maxie E. Young, Grandmother Ethel Lee Walker, Grandfather Louie Walker, Aunt Margaret Walker, Uncle Louie Walker Jr., Author Walker, Milton Walker, George Walker, and a whole host of cousins, nieces, nephews, and other close family friends.
