LaVerne R. Kolinger, 83, of Rock Island, passed away on Tuesday, March 3, 2015 at Heartland Health Care Center, Moline. Memorial services for Mrs. Kolinger will be 1:30 pm, Saturday at Holy Cross Lutheran Church, Moline. Inurnment will be at a later date in the Rock Island National Cemetery. Memorials may be made to the American Cancer Society or to Holy Cross Lutheran Church, Moline. Wheelan-Pressly Funeral Home, Rock Island is assisting the family.

LaVerne was born on August 21, 1931 in Chicago, a daughter of Robert and Bessie (Bauer) Vavricek. She married Anton "Tony" Kolinger on July 1, 1950 in Cicero, IL. LaVerne worked as a secretary at Hy-Dee Supply in Westchester, IL for many years, retiring 1989. She was a member of Holy Cross Lutheran Church, Moline. LaVerne enjoyed baking and reading. She was the world's best mother in law and a professional grandmother.

Survivors include her husband, Tony; daughters, Cindy Ward and her fiancé, Vern Bass, Golden, Co., and Susan Piatak, and her husband, Steve Piatak, Davenport; grandchildren, Allison (Nick) Lasure, Matthew (Missy) Ward, and Jennifer Piatak; a brother in law, George Kos, Rock Island.
