Lawrence "Larry" D. Leatherman, 75, of Rock Island, passed away on Tuesday, September 20, 2016 at Clarissa C. Cook Hospice House, Bettendorf.

Funeral service will be held at 10:00 AM on Monday, September 26, 2016 at Wheelan-Pressly Funeral Home and Crematory, 3030 7th Ave., Rock Island.  Visitation will be held from 2 PM to 5 PM on Sunday, September 25, 2016 at the funeral home.  Burial will be at National Cemetery, Rock Island, with military honors provided by Moline American Legion Post #246.  Memorials may be made to Clarissa C. Cook Hospice House, Bettendorf.

Larry was born on November 25, 1940 in Rock Island, the son of Earl and Ruth (Paradise) Leatherman.  He married Linda Williams on November 2, 1974 in Rock Island, she preceded him in death in 2000.  Larry was employed as an electrician and retired from the Rock Island Arsenal, and was a member of the IBEW Local #145.  He was an avid sports fan.  He loved to watch the Bears and the Illini, but his family really knew that he was a closet Hawkeye fan.  He also enjoyed playing golf with his friends and brothers after his retirement.

Larry is survived by his two children, Michael (Janelle) Leatherman, Waukee, IA and Jana (Dean) Meyer, Milan; grandchildren, Rachael, Eric, Alix, Brandon (Megan), and Justin (Tracey); sister-in-law, Joyce Leatherman; and numerous nieces and nephews.  He was preceded in death by his wife, Linda Leatherman; parents; and brothers, Warren, William, and Lamont Leatherman.
