Obituary

Lela "Lee" J. Sedder, 83, of Rock Island passed away on Sunday, July 3, 2022 at home.

A funeral service will be held at 1:00 pm on Friday, July 8 at the Knox Chapel of Wheelan-Pressly Funeral Home and Crematory, 2106 7th Ave Rock Island. Visitation will be from 12:00 to 1:00 pm Friday at the Knox Chapel. Burial will be in Rock Island National Cemetery. Memorials may be made in care of Faith Evangelical Free Church, Moline.

Lela was born on October 26, 1938, a daughter of Lyle and Frances (Hatfield) Pearson. She graduated from Sherrard High School in 1956. Lee married Thomas Brown in 1970 in Preemption and he preceded her in death on August 17, 1988. She then went on to marry Donald Sedder on November 17, 1995 in Rock Island and he preceded her in death on December 24, 2012.

Lela worked as a utility laborer for Servus Rubber in Rock Island for 45 years.

She was baptized in Reynolds United Methodist Church and was a member of Preemption United Methodist Church. She loved her church family, especially those at Faith Evangelical Free Church, Moline.

Lela was a long-time member of the Country and Western Music Association and "She was Country When Country Wasn't Cool". Lee was also a member of the Second Winders club at Edgewood Baptist Church in Rock Island.

Lela had no children of her own, so her nieces and nephews were her children to brag about. She loved hearing about all their happenings.

Those left to cherish her memory include her step-daughter, Wanda (Jim) Mundy, Rock Island; step-grandsons, Brandon and Josh; sister, Linda Halsall, Rock Island; brother, Larry (Beverly) Pearson, Mattherville; nieces and nephews, Lyle (Dawn) Pearson, Matherville, John (Lorene) Pearson, Milan, Colleen Pearson, Matherville, Pat (Scott) Harris, Moline, Natalie (Michael) Howdeshell, Argyle, TX, Brett Lane, Arvada, CO, and Brenda (Eshahbah "Esh") James, Rock Island; and several great nieces and nephews.

She was preceded in death by both her husbands; parents; and brother and sister in law, David (Beverly) Pearson.
