Obituary

Lemuel "Lem" Young, 78, of Preemption, passed away Friday September 5, 2014 at University of Iowa Hospital, Iowa City.
Services will be 11:00am Friday September 12, 2014 at Wheelan-Pressly Funeral Home, Milan. Visitation will be from 9:00am to service time at the funeral home. Burial will be in Preemption Cemetery. Memorials may be made to the family.
Lemuel was born on April 21, 1936 in Mammouth Springs, Arkansas, the son of Marion and Violet (Howard) Young. He married Wanda Baugh on April 17, 1964 in Rock Island. Mr. Young was a United States Army Veteran.
Mr. Young had been employed at Kraft Foods for 19 years as a truck driver. He was later employed at Tri-City Fabrication for 15 years before retirement.
He loved woodworking, spending time with his family and was a member of Church of Christ, Moline.
Survivors include his wife of 50 years, Wanda Young; daughters, Joy Shackleford, Preemption, Patricia and Pastor Richard Corwin, Bethany, IL; grandchildren , Justin Shackleford, Tyler Shackleford, Rachel (Corwin) Greenwell, Rebecca Corwin, Deborah Corwin, Micah Corwin; adopted daughter, Kathy Gochee and family; siblings, Ray Young, Cambridge, Frank Young, Arizona, Marie Shain, Kansas, Louise Fix, California.
He was preceded in death by his parents; brothers, Arlin, Marlin and Roy Young; sister Ann Young.
