Leo L. Ford, 68, of Milan, IL, passed away Sunday December 14, 2014 at his home.
Services will be 11:00 a.m. Thursday, December 18th, at Wheelan-Pressly Funeral Home, 201 E. 4th Ave., Milan. Entombment with military honors will be at Memorial Park Mausoleum, Rock Island. Visitation will be 4:00 p.m. to 7:00 p.m. Wednesday, December 17th, at the funeral home. Memorials may be made to Unity Point Hospice.
Leo was born October 2, 1946 in Moline, IL, a son of Leo E. and Helen E. (Kiss) Ford. He married Patricia Ann Tollenaer on October 17, 1970 in Rock Island.
Leo was a U.S. Army veteran. He was a police officer with the Rock Island Police Dept. He retired at the rank of Sergeant with 20 years of service. Following his retirement from the police dept. he worked for Kimco Corp. for many years, retiring in 2007.
In previous years, he had served on the Police Pension Board. He enjoyed fishing trips to Canada with his sons and golfing.
Surviving are his wife, Patricia, of Milan; sons and daughters-in-law, Todd and Tammy Ford, Epworth, IA, and Scott and Amy Ford, Moline; granddaughters, Ella and Joanna Ford; siblings (and spouses), Mike (Pam) Ford, Rock Island, Kathy Elceser, Davenport, Teresa Reeves, and Laura (Melton) Spidle, all of Rock Island; and several nieces and nephews.
Leo was preceded in death by his parents, brothers, Danny and one in infancy; and his sister, Lonnie Diebert.
The family wishes to express their thanks and appreciation to the caregivers of Unity Point Hospice for their kindness and care.
