Obituary

Leo Francis Moseley passed away on June 13, 2026, at the age of 84, after courageously facing Parkinson’s Disease.

Born on February 11, 1942, in Rock Island, Illinois, Leo was the beloved son of John R. and Mary R. (Van Iseghem) Moseley of Taylor Ridge, Illinois. The second of eight children, he began his education in a one-room schoolhouse before graduating from Alleman Catholic High School in 1960. It was there he met Susanne (Susie) Mary DeKeyrel, the love of his life. They married on June 1, 1963, and shared 62- years of devotion, partnership, and joy.

Leo grew up on a dairy farm, milking cows before and after school. When he and Susie married, he became the CEO of the Moseley Family Farm and Zoo, where they lived and worked side by side for 62 years. Known for his mirrored sunglasses and strong presence, Leo worked tirelessly to support his family and build a life rooted in hard work and love.

He showed Hampshire sheep at the Mercer and Rock Island County Fairs, as well as the Illinois State Fair, earning numerous awards including recognition at the National Barrow Show. Together with Susie, he raised cattle, hogs, sheep, and chickens, as well as grew corn, beans, winter wheat, and hay. Later, he and his son raised turkeys—first as a 4-H project, then as a business. Leo also represented Garst Seeds and Farmer’s Hybrid and ran his own seed business selling bird seed and straw to local stores. He and Susie enjoyed selling products at the Davenport Farmer’s Market and traveling the Midwest with their cutting board business. In addition, Leo was a board member for Perryton Township.

Leo and Susie were devoted members of St. Patrick’s Catholic Church in Andalusia, Illinois, where they contributed to the annual Ice Cream Social and many other parish events.

He was preceded in death by his wife, Susanne Moseley; his parents, John R. and Mary R. (Van Iseghem) Moseley; his brother, Tom Moseley; and his sister, Mary Elizabeth Moseley.

Leo is survived by his brother Tom’s wife, Jeanette Moseley; his brother Kenny (Eileen) Moseley; and his sisters Sister Kathleen Moseley, Evelyn Parchert, Margaret Ann (Maggie) McManus, Mary Lou (Richard) Bridge, and Pauline (Roy) Swanson. He leaves behind his children: Janice (Steve) McLaren, Jennifer Moseley, Julianne (Brian) Froehlich, and Stephen (Stacie) Moseley. His grandchildren include Erin (David) Carpenter, Rory (Trisha) Conway, Molly (Drew Jones) Conway, Madeline (Scott) Kornberg, Paxton (Maria) Moreno, Devon (Maggie) Froehlich, Brice (Erika) Froehlich, Arianna (Chris Saley) Froehlich, Carter Moseley, and Christopher Moseley. He was also blessed with nine great-grandchildren, along with many nieces and nephews.

Leo will be remembered for his strength, his devotion to family, his tireless work ethic, and his deep faith. His legacy of love, resilience, and service will continue to inspire all who knew him.

Visitation for Leo will be held at Wheelan-Pressly Funeral Home and Crematory, 201 E. 4th Avenue, Milan, Illinois, on Friday, June 19, 2026, from 4:00 to 6:00 PM. A Mass of Christian Burial for Leo and Susie will be celebrated at St. Teresa of Calcutta Parish - St. Patrick Campus in Andalusia, Illinois, on Saturday, June 20, 2026, at 9:30 AM, followed by burial at Reynolds Cemetery.
