Leo Wayne Simmons, 81, of Moline, died Monday, November 6, 2023 at home.  Per his wishes, his body was donated to The University of Iowa Deeded Body Program for science research.  A memorial visitation will be 4-6 pm Thursday, November 9, 2023 at Wheelan-Pressly Funeral Home and Crematory, 201 E. 4th Avenue, Milan.  Memorials may be made in care of QC Paws, Moline.

Leo was born in Rock Island, Illinois on November 17, 1941, a son of Leonard and Rosa Bell Simmons.  He married Elnor Dibble on July 8, 1961 with whom he had two children.  They later divorced.

Leo was the owner and operator of Leo's South Park Bakery in Rock Island from January of 1966 to April of 2020.

Leo enjoyed fishing and carpentry work.

Those left to cherish his memory include his significant other, Emma Fox, Moline; children, Mark Simmons and Amy (Darin) Gillispie, both of Milan; granddaughters, Amber (Dakota)Fox and Casey Clarke; great-grandchildren, Zoe and Maddox Fox; bonus grandchildren, Kayla, Zach and Adam; bonus great-grandchildren, Dallas and Jackson; and many nieces and nephews.

He was preceded in death by his parents and siblings, Dale Simmons and Joyce Brown.
