Obituary

Leon L. Feuerbach, 90, of Davenport, passed away Tuesday, January 23, 2024, at the Davenport Lutheran Home.

A memorial service will be held at 11:00 a.m. Saturday, January 27, 2024, at St. Paul Lutheran Church, 2136 Brady Street, Davenport. Visitation will be held from 9:30 a.m. to 11:00 a.m. Saturday at the church. Private inurnment will be held at a later date in the St. Paul Memorial Garden. Wheelan-Pressly Funeral Home and Crematory, Rock Island is assisting Leon's family with arrangements. Memorials may be made to St. Paul Lutheran Church, Davenport, or to Beacon of Hope Hospice.

Leon was born August 11, 1933, in Davenport, a son of Lloyd and Alice (Heuer) Feuerbach. He married Deanna F. Sievers on May 4, 1957, at St. Paul Lutheran Church in Davenport.

Mr. Feuerbach graduated from Durant High School and attended St. Ambrose College. He later graduated from the University of Wisconsin School of Banking. Leon served as vice president of the Walcott Trust and Savings Bank, retiring in 2013. He also served as a director on the bank's Board of Directors.

Leon was a long-time member of St. Paul Lutheran Church, where he had served as an usher, former member of the Church Council, and helped tend many of the church's gardens. In addition to his many activities at the church, Leon was a past president of the Scott County Bankers organization.

Leon was a wonderful father and family man. He was an avid sportsman. He played professional softball and participated in the World Series of Softball. Leon was also an avid golfer. He played, coached, and taught his three sons baseball, basketball, football, and most importantly the lessons in life about pursuing your dreams, to never give up, and how to be a strong, yet loving and caring young man.

Those left to cherish Leon's memory include his wife of 66 years, Deanna; sons and daughters-in-law, Kevin and Cindy Feuerbach, Estero, FL, Kirk and Lee Feuerbach, Naples, FL, and Kent and Pam Feuerbach, Peachtree Corners, GA; grandchildren, Katie (Nick) Place, Grimes, IA, and Zachary and Madison Feuerbach, Denver, CO; great-grandchildren, Spencer and Cameron; and sisters-in-law, Ila Mae Feuerbach, and Janet Feuerbach.

Leon was preceded in death by his parents; brothers, Duane and Darrell Feuerbach; sister, Jean Schlapkohl; and daughter-in-law, Sherry Feuerbach.
