Obituary

Leon E. Schrader, 88, of Andalusia, passed away Saturday, August 10, 2024, at his residence.

Funeral services will be held at 1:30 p.m. Friday, August 16, 2024, at Wheelan-Pressly Funeral Home and Crematory, 201 E. 4th Avenue, Milan. Visitation will be held one hour prior from 12:30 to 1:30 p.m. Friday at the funeral home. Burial will be in Illinois City Cemetery. Memorials may be made to the Andalusia Volunteer Ambulance.

Leon was born August 13, 1935, in Delmar, Iowa, to Howard A. and Juanita (Burke) Schrader. He graduated from Delmar High School in 1952. Leon married Marietta Dusenberry on June 4, 1960. She preceded him in death on April 21, 2023. Leon retired from Alcoa in 1997 after working 43 years. He was an avid Iowa Hawkeye fan and enjoyed watching Westerns. Above all, Leon loved spending time with his family, especially his granddaughters.

Those left to cherish Leon's memory include his daughters, Lisa (Noel) Anderson and Vicki Blair; grandchildren, Nicole (Jayson) Blanchard, Sydney (John Jr.) Mosley, and Lauren Anderson; and great-grandchildren, Jayton, Nikkolay, Athena, Anastasia, and Atlas.

Leon was preceded in death by his parents; wife, Marietta; infant daughter, Cynthia Schrader; and brothers, William, Donald, and Duane Schrader.
