Leonard
Marquardt

Monday
Our Redeemer Lutheran Church
Starts at 10:00 am (Central time)
Leonard Marquardt was born on June 9, 1928 in Canistota, South Dakota, the son of Otto and Emma (nee Gosch). On July 15, 1928, he was brought into the family of God through the washing of water in Holy Baptism, at Zion Lutheran Church in Canistota. As he grew and matured as a Christian, he renewed his Baptismal Covenant many times, dedicating his life to the service and worship of the Triune God. On the basis of his confession of faith in Jesus as his Savior, shortly before his death, we believe that His faith has finally been confirmed in heaven, where he joins all the saints who now rest from their labors, their works following them.
His schooling in grades 1-12 took place in and around Canistota. In 1946, he graduated from high school and enrolled at Concordia Teachers College, Seward, Nebraska. In 1950, Leonard received his bachelor’s degree in education from Concordia Teachers College, River Forest, Illinois. He served his Lord in the teaching ministry for more than 40 years.
On June 25, 1954, Leonard was united in marriage with Lucille (nee Johnson). The Lord blessed this union with six children. He was preceded in death by his wife and an infant son, Stephan.
Those left to cherish his memory include his sons, Timothy (Kristin) Marquardt, Terry (Marcia) Marquardt, Daniel (Deborah) Marquardt, David (Denice) Marquardt and Douglas (Jacqueline) Marquardt; eleven grandchildren and five great-grandchildren.
Cremation rites have been accorded. Funeral services will be held at Our Redeemer Lutheran Church in Staplehurst, Nebraska on Monday, July 27 2026, at 10:00AM. A private inurnment will follow at Our Redeemer Lutheran Cemetery.
In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made in care of the Lutheran Hour Ministries. Online condolences, memories and expressions of sympathy may be left for the family at wheelanpressley.com.
