LeRoy H. "Sonny" McManus, 83, of Reynolds, died Tuesday, Nov. 4, 2014 at UnityPoint Health - Trinity Rock Island.

A Mass of Christian Burial will be 9:30 a.m. Saturday at St. Patrick Catholic Church, Taylor Ridge. Burial is at the Reynolds Cemetery. Visitation is 4 to 7 p.m. Friday at St. Patrick Catholic Church, where a Christian wake service will be held at 4:00 p.m. Wheelan-Pressly Funeral Home, Reynolds is assisting the family.

LeRoy was born May 31, 1931 in Rock Island, a son of LeRoy M. and Isabel M. Hancq McManus. He married Shirley Ann Carlson on Nov. 23, 1957 in Monmouth. She died June 17, 1999.

Sonny retired from the Rockridge School District, where he had worked as a mechanic. He previously worked as a truck driver and mechanic for Kraft Foods, Milan.

He was a U.S. Army veteran having served from 1954 to 1956. Sonny was a member of St. Patrick Catholic Church. He enjoyed doing small engine repair, camping and fishing. Sonny also loved going for a drive with family.

Survivors include his daughters and sons-in-law, Saralu and Albert McNeal, Reynolds, Mary Ann and Thomas Bivens, Taylor Ridge, Jane Ellen and Bruce Jones, Milan, and Amy Jo and Rick Bray, DeWitt, Iowa; grandchildren, Kristina (Keith) Richardson, Meredith (Greg) Hummel, Clint (Leigh) Bivens, John (Mallory) Bivens, Andrea Jones, Casey Stone, Callen Stone, and Lucas Bray; six great-grandchildren; sisters, Barbara Shaffer, New Boston and Patricia (Leonard) Armstrong, Aledo; and his brother, MIchael (Betty) McManus, New Boston. He was preceded in death by his parents; wife; an infant son, Patrick; and son-in-law, Todd Stone.
