Leslie was born on March 26, 1965 to William and Jonnene (Heidbrink) Simonovich in Minneapolis, MN. She spent her early childhood there before the family moved to the Quad Cities. Leslie graduated from Central High School in 1983 and then attended Arizona State.

On February 10, 1995 she was united in marriage to Arthur Depoorter in Rock Island. The couple made their home in rural East Moline where they raised their children. Leslie was a dedicated homemaker and for the last 18 years had also been working at Parr Instrument Co. in Moline.

She was the heart of the family, always eager to love and help those in need. Her selflessness radiated love and light; she was utterly devoted to her family and friends. Their biggest supporter and fierce protector, she created magic during the holidays and made every day special with thoughtful little gifts. No matter what was happening, she was present at every game and performance, always showing up for those she cared about. There was nothing she couldn't accomplish; she moved mountains with grace and determination.

She is survived by her husband, Arthur Depoorter; sister, Stacey Moon; son, Zachary Wilken; daughter, Madison Jost; son, Gregory Wilken; daughter, Kaitlyn Depoorter. Survivors also include her seven grandchildren, Elliette, Kenzingten, Harrisen, Althea, Fox, Owsley, and Archer.

She was preceded in death by father, William R. Simonovich; and mother, Jonnene Hansen; brother, John Simonovich.
