Lila V. "Dolly" Tilp, 84, of Rock Island, died Tuesday, January 10, 2017 at the Clarissa C. Cook Hospice House, Bettendorf.  A Mass of Christian Burial will be 10 a.m. Friday at St. Pius X Catholic Church, Rock Island.  Visitation will be from 4-7 p.m. Thursday at Wheelan-Pressly Funeral Home and Crematory, Rock Island.  Entombment will be at Calvary Mausoleum, Rock Island.  Memorials may be made in care of Alleman High School, St. Pius X Catholic Church, both of Rock Island, or to Clarissa C. Cook Hospice House, Bettendorf.

Dolly was born in the little rock house on the Bockenstedt farm in Earlville, Iowa on October 30, 1932, a daughter of Arthur I. and Stella M. Weber Bockenstedt.  She was one of the "Greeley Girls," when she played basketball for Greeley High School.  She married Gary Tilp on June 16, 1956 at St. Joseph Catholic Church in Greeley, Iowa.  He preceded her in death on January 24, 2007.

Dolly worked as a realtor for Century 21 for twenty years.

She was a member at St. Pius X. Catholic Church, St. Pius Altar and Rosary Society, Circle Four  and the  Knights of Columbus Auxillary.  She also enjoyed coaching girls basketball at Jordan Catholic School, Rock Island.

Those left to cherish her memory are her children (and spouses), Susan M. Schroeder, Ankeny, Iowa, Jon G. (Jennifer) Tilp, Cambridge, Wisc. and Timothy A. (Dawn) Tilp, Rock Island; grandchildren, Ben Schroeder,  Jason (Katie) Schroeder, Abby (Zach) Ploen, Molly (Trevor) Muchow and Sara Tilp; and great-grandchildren, Andrew and Ashton Schroeder, Tatum and Maisy Ploen and Penny and Ruby Muchow.

She was preceded in death by her husband, parents, sisters; Grace, Maxine, Mary, Nancy and Judy and brother, Daniel Bockenstedt.
