Lila McDowell, daughter of Everett and Clare McDowell, was born on April 12, 1940 and died July 24, 2024.  She graduated from Augustana College and was a first grade teacher in East Moline for over 30 years, giving so many kids a great start on their educations.  She was an avid reader, a lover of roses, and a friend to all living things, especially cats, of which she always had several, usually strays she took in.  She was always more than generous to others and contributed to many charities.  She leaves behind a brother, Everett McDowell, married to sister-in-law, Sally Walker-McDowell of Denver CO, nieces Alexis McKnight of San Diego and Meghan Fatticci (married to Greg Fatticci), nephew Scott McDowell, and two great-nephews and a great-niece, John, Isaac and Abigail Fatticci, all of Denver.  She will be greatly missed by all.

According to her wishes, cremation rites have been accorded and no services are planned.
