Liliane Claudette Black, 77, of Taylor Ridge, passed away on Monday, Dec. 7, 2015, at Friendship Manor, Rock Island.

Funeral services will be held at a later date with family in France. Memorials may be made to the Alzheimer's Association.

Liliane was born on Jan. 27, 1938, in Charrais, France, the daughter of Pierre Fernand William Brechet and Marinette Cherie Franchineau. She married Leslie H. Black on May 5, 1972, in Waukegan, Ill., after they met while both working in Germany.

A former accountant before devoting herself to raising her children, Liliane will be remembered as an intelligent, loving wife and mother, who loved to travel, especially back to her native France as often as possible and was always full of light and laughter.

Liliane was preceded in death by her husband of 43 years, Leslie H. Black; her mother, Marinette; father Pierre; and step-father Andre Rossignol. Survivors include her daughters, Marinette Cherie Black and Christine Black; brother, Pierre (Elizabeth) Brechet; brother-in-law, Lee M. Black; two grandchildren; and numerous nieces, nephews, family members and close friends in France and in the U.S.
