Linda S. Douglas, 67, of Milan, died Wednesday, June 1, 2016 at her home. Services will be 10:30 a.m. Monday at Wheelan-Pressly Funeral Home & Crematory, Milan. Visitation will be from 2-4 p.m. Sunday at the funeral home. Cremation rites will follow the services. Memorials may be made in care of the family.
Linda was born in Ames, Iowa on February 11, 1949, a daughter of Wayne H. and Betty L. Vore Erickson. Linda graduated from Aledo High School in 1967.
She married Francis Douglas at the Messiah Lutheran Church, Aledo, in 1967, with whom she had three daughters. They later divorced. Linda would later take guardianship over a fourth daughter.
Linda worked several years as a columnist for the former Milan Mirror. One of her most read columns, was "Diary of a Mad Parent." She also worked several years for Wenger Truck Lines, Davenport, and was owner and operator of Munchkins Daycare in Milan until 2002 when she retired due to her illness.
Linda was confirmed and spent time as a Sunday school teacher at the Messiah Lutheran Church in Aledo. She was MC of the Milan Indian Festival for many years. Linda enjoyed writing, reading, crafts and baking cookies. She was also an avid Dallas Cowboys fan.
Survivors include her daughters (and spouses), Suzanne (Brett) Hanes, Salem, Ore., Wendy MacDonald, Rock Island, Kelly (Chris) Senatra, Rock Island and Ashly Rodriguez, Katy, Texas; mother, Betty Erickson, Aledo; grandchildren, Andrew, Katlyn, Emily, Eric, Lauren, Andrew, Jack, Ryan, Audrey, Brady and Patrick; sisters, Sue (Neal) Thirtyacre, Illinois City and Alice Wainwright, Milan; brother, Dennis (Patti) Erickson, Vienna, Va.; numerous nieces, nephews and cousins; and her 23 year old cat, Mickey.
She was preceded in death by her father.
