Lois M. Appelquist, 80, of Rock Island, died Monday, June 10, 2019 at her home.  Services will be 10 am Saturday at Wheelan-Pressly Funeral Home and Crematory, 3030 7th Ave., Rock Island.  Visitation will be Friday from 4-7 pm at the funeral home.  Burial will be in Chippiannock Cemetery, Rock Island.  Memorials may be made in care of the QC Animal Welfare Center, Milan.

Lois was born on October 1, 1938 in Rock Island, a daughter of Frank and Pansy Davis Kenney.  She married Gary H. Appelquist on August 24, 1956 in Rock Island.  He preceded her in death on May 25, 2011.

In earlier years, Lois and Gary ran MasterCraft Fence together.  They later sold the business and Lois focused on raising her five children.

Lois enjoyed gardening, reading, ceramics, cooking and crocheting.

Those left to cherish her memory include her children (and spouses), Linda (Rod Peterson) Rowan, Geneseo, Jeanie (Dave Snyder) Appelquist, Clearwater, Fla., Robin (Mike) Keith, Cordova, Scott (Lisa) Appelquist, Winter Garden, Fla. and Jill (Ron) Ramirez, Rock Island; grandchildren, Brandon, Jerad, Michael, Nicholas, Erica, Kirk, Kory, Tyler, Alexis and Benjamin; great-grandchildren, Korbyn, Bryce, Mara, Lena, Gracie and Millie.

She was preceded in death by her parents, husband, son – Gary R. Appelquist and siblings – Herb, Marlin, Howard, Leo, Barb and Emery.
