Lois E. Wilkens, 84, of Marengo, IA, formerly of Illinois City, IL, passed away Friday July 14, 2017 in Flora Vista, NM.
Services will be 10:00 a.m. Monday at Zion Lutheran Church, Taylor Ridge, with burial following at Zion Lutheran Cemetery, Taylor Ridge. Following the burial, there will be a luncheon for family and friends at the church hall. Visitation will be 2:00 p.m. to 4:00 p.m. Sunday at Wheelan-Pressly Funeral Home and Crematory, 201 E. 4th Ave., Milan, IL. Memorials may be made to the Sunday School program at Zion Lutheran Church.
Lois was born June 18, 1933 in Ackworth, Iowa, a daughter of Robert and Roselle Wynn Borrall. She was first married to Darvin W. Brown. She later married Donald Wilkens on September 29, 1984 in Illinois City, IL. Donald preceded her in death on March 19, 2015.
Prior to her retirement, Lois worked at Miller Container and later at Eagle Signal Corp. She was a member of Zion Lutheran Church, Taylor Ridge, where she had taught Sunday school for many years.
She was very artistic and enjoyed painting, macramé, ceramics and crafts.
Surviving are her children (and spouses), Robert (Donna) Brown, Flora Vista, NM, Sue Elllen (Jeff) Jackson, Aztec, NM, Diana Lynn (Ray) Stropes, Andalusia, IL, and Cheryl Ann Brown, Marengo, IA; twelve grandchildren; twenty-seven great grandchildren; six great-great grandchildren; brother, Tom (Mary) Borrall, Creston, IA; sisters, Nadine (Robert) Sutter, of Wyoming; Teddylou Wazel, of Iowa; and numerous nieces, nepehws, and other family.
Lois was preceded in death by her parents; husband, Donald; great granddaughter, Shelby Clements; brother, Robert Borrall; and sisters, Judith Whitlow and Colleen Meggison.
