Loren Dale "Unc" Sowash, 70, formerly from Andalusia, went to live with his Heavenly Father on Wednesday, December 28, 2016.
Visitation will be held Monday, January 2, 2017, from 4-7 p.m. at Wheelan-Pressly Funeral Home and Crematory in Milan, IL, where a Masonic Funeral Service will conducted at 7 pm. Funeral services will be 10 am at the funeral home on Tuesday, January 3, 2017, with Reverend William Gluck officiating. Memorials may be made to the Community Baptist Church, Andalusia or the Andalusia Masonic Lodge. Burial will be at the Andalusia Cemetery with military honors conducted by the Milan American Legion Post No.569. Loren was born September 27, 1946, in Moline, the son of Raymond Dale and Ruby Melvina Sowash. He graduated from Rockridge High School. He was a U.S. Army Veteran serving in Viet Nam and Germany. He was employed by Ozark Airlines as a ramp man and refueler. Prior to that, he had been a part-time maintenance employee for the Quad City Airport Authority. He enjoyed traveling, motorcycles, racing, swimming, racquetball, football (Chicago Bears), and baseball (White Sox). He also obtained a pilot's license. He was a lifetime member of the Andalusia Community Baptist Church and enjoyed assisting with their Jolly 60's events. He was also active in the Andalusia Masonic Lodge for many years. Loren is survived by his brother, Albin (Sharon) Sowash, Mims, FL; his nieces Lisa (Matt) Bowman, Andalusia, and Lonna (Joe) Moran, Titusville, FL; 2 Great Nieces, Maggie (Jacob) Peiper, Andalusia, and Margo Bowman, Andalusia; along with 2 Aunts, 1 Uncle, and 4 cousins and their families. His youngest survivor is his Great Great Niece, Arvella Shannon Peiper, whom he loved watching the past few months. He will be joining his Mother, Father, and an Uncle in Heaven.
