Loretta Mae Hines, 83, of Davenport, formerly of Rock Island, died Wednesday, June 24, 2015 at the Davenport Lutheran Home with her loving family by her side. A celebration of Loretta's life will begin with a Christian Wake service at 1 pm Sunday with visitation following from 1:30 - 4 p.m. at Wheelan-Pressly Funeral Home, Rock Island. A Mass of Christian Burial will be at 11 a.m. Monday at St. Pius X Catholic Church, Rock Island. Burial will be at Rock Island National Cemetery, Arsenal Island. Memorials may be made in care of the Alzheimer's Association, American Cancer Society, American Heart Association or the Humane Society of Scott County.
Loretta was born in Rock Island on August 28, 1931, a daughter of John and Eva Headstrom Kimbel. She married Donald E. Hines on July 30, 1955 at St. Joseph Catholic Church, Rock Island. He preceded her in death on June 10, 2012.
Loretta worked for Modern Woodman of America and retired in 1994. She also spent much of her time as a homemaker.
Loretta was a member of CASI (Center for Active Seniors Inc.) and Our Lady of Victory Catholic Church, both of Davenport.
Loretta loved playing cards with friends at CASI. She also enjoyed fishing, camping and spending time with her grandchildren.
Survivors include her children (and spouses), Susanna (Ron) Davis, Davenport, Julie (Ken) Bremer, Davenport, Trina (Joe) Green, Lena, Ill., Tina Hines, Davenport and Donald (Carolyn) Hines, Bettendorf; grandchildren, Jenny, Jake, Jessica, Jim, Katherine, Brent and Nicholas; ten great-grandchildren; brothers, Wayne (Gini) Kimbel, Moline and Jack (Marlene) Kimbel, Milan; sister, Shirley (Jim) Bush, Coal Valley; numerous nieces and nephews; and her beloved dog, Benji.
She was preceded in death by her husband, parents, grandson, Joseph T. Green, brothers and sisters-in-law, Donald (Toni) Kimbel, Dale (Eileen) Kimbel and Anthony Kimbel, nieces, Heidi Kimbel and Jayne Kimbel-Linson and great-granddaughter, Destiny.
The family would like to extend a special thank you to the staffs at the Davenport Lutheran Home and Genesis Hospice for all of the compassionate care they extended to Loretta.
