Lossee Morford, 91, of Taylor Ridge, passed away on Friday, July 8, 2016 at Avonlea Cottages, Milan.

Services for Mr. Morford will be 10 am, Wednesday at Wheelan-Pressly Funeral Home & Crematory, Milan. Visitation will be Tuesday from 4 to 7 pm at the funeral home. Burial will be in the Aledo Cemetery, where military honors will be conducted by the Aledo American Legion Post No. 121. Memorials may be made to the Honor Flight of the Quad Cities or to the Taylor Ridge United Methodist Church.

Lossee was born on September 12, 1924 in Burgess, Ill., a son of Peter Lossee Morford and Carrie Dorothy Morford.

Lossee attended Monmouth College where he soon met the love of his life, Esther Clark  He then joined the Navy and was shipped overseas as a Seabee and was stationed on Midway Island in 1943.  He was a proud World War II Veteran.  Lossee and Esther where married on September 1, 1946 in the Belmont Church, near  Seaton, Ill.

Lossee was a very motivated individual and a lifelong learner.  He pursued and enjoyed many successful careers over his lifetime. Lossee became a carpenter for Dimock and Gould while Esther finished her last year of college. They moved to Andalusia and owned and operated Morford's Market and the Hiway Royal Blue. Lossee later became a realtor for Ziere Reality and Lohman Brothers. He then worked for the Rock Island County Board of Review until his retirement in 1993.

Survivors include his wife, Esther; son, Stephen (Bernadette) Morford, Bettendorf; daughters, Janet (John) Walker, Valparaiso, Ind., Pamela (Tony) Whittington, Andalusia; nine grandchildren; and 11 great grandchildren.

He was preceded in death by his parents, a brother, Locke Morford, and daughter in law, Marilyn Morford.

Lossee was an avid golfer and enjoyed woodworking and carving. He  will always be remembered for his patience, kindness, integrity, and dedication to his wife and family.

Our family is forever grateful for the level of care Lossee has received at Avonlea Cottages and Heartland Hospice.
