Louis D. Chapman, 78, of Rock Island, passed away Friday January 8, 2016 at UPH-Trinity, Rock Island.
Funeral services will be 11:00am Wednesday at Wheelan-Pressly Funeral Home and Crematory, Milan. Visitation will be from 3:00-7:00 pm Tuesday at the funeral home. Burial will be in Greenview Memorial Gardens, East Moline. Memorials may be left to the family.
Louis was born on January 5, 1938 in Davenport, the son of William Chapman and Anna Peterson-Johnson. He married Jean S. Strayer on September 29, 1962 in Milan.
Mr. Chapman was employed at Builders Sand and Gravel and later at the Rock Island Arsenal as a crane operator.
He was a member of St. Ambrose Catholic Church, Milan and had been active for several years with the Milan Little League. Louis loved spending time with his family, trains, genealogy and blueberries.
Survivors include his wife, Jean; son and daughter in law, Gary and Shelly Chapman, Milan; granddaughters, Breyana(Colton) Chenoweth, Courtney Chapman(Jeff Moeller); sister, Carol Joekema and step brothers, Don Johnson and Richard Johnson.
He was preceded in death by his parents, 2 sisters and a brother.
