Lucas Lee (Luke) Eckstein, 19, Illinois City, IL, passed away from injuries sustained in a motorcycle accident on Thursday, July 30, 2026, in Davenport, Iowa. There will be a visitation from 4-6:00 PM on Friday, August 7, 2026 at Wheelan-Pressly Funeral Home and Crematory, Milan. The funeral will be at 12:00 PM on Saturday, August 8, 2026 at the funeral home. Burial at Buffalo Prairie Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to the family to support his son’s future.
Luke was born July 22, 2007, in Muscatine, Iowa to Randy Lee and Shawna (Kirby) Eckstein. He was a very adventurous child, and was seldom still. He participated in a number of sports and Cub Scouts, but his passion was always anything with wheels. By the time Luke was eleven, his father had him proficient with a stick shift. He then learned to handle Skidsters, tractors and trucks as he grew. His favorite vehicles were dually diesel 4x4 Ford trucks and late-70s Ford pickups.
He attended Rockridge High School and was graduated from Penn Foster in 2025. Luke worked for several auto and large truck mechanic shops where he obtained vast diesel engine knowledge. He moved to a farmstead two years ago where he had plans to build a home because he loved the independent, rough, rural life.
Luke was born to his parents later in life and supported them strongly on the farm. He loved his family, especially his “Mini-Me” son, Colter Lee, and his siblings, Jadyn Rutter, Jeremiah and Jacob Kirby. Luke fiercely cared for those he loved, and he enjoyed a large circle of friends.
He is survived by his parents, Randy and Shawna Eckstein; girlfriend, Cloee Slaight; and son Colter; grandparents, Dorance and Sandy Kirby, aunts, uncles, cousins and nephew. He was preceded in death by his grandparents, Larry and Mary Eckstein-Lake, half-sister, Amanda Bales-Eckstein; and aunt, Angela Kirby.
