Lucille "Weezie" Bea, a beloved member of the Rock Island community, passed away on June 25, 2025, at Generations at Rock Island at the age of 68. Born on May 19, 1957, in Chicago, Illinois, Lucille was the cherished daughter of Albert Sr. and Ola Mae (Pryor) Johnson. She will be remembered for her vibrant spirit and the profound impact she made in the lives of her family and friends.
Lucille's journey through life was one of love and dedication. She earned her GED, laying a strong foundation for a life filled with purpose. On January 13, 1994, Lucille married Lawrence Bea, and together they celebrated a beautiful partnership that spanned over 31 wonderful years. In her early years, she worked as a survey analyst supervisor. Later on, Lucille was a well-known cosmetologist in the Quad Cities.
A devoted member of Second Baptist Church in Rock Island, Lucille was involved with the Second Baptist Mission, embracing her faith and supporting her community. She filled her home with love through her enjoyment of cooking, reading, and tending to her plants.
Lucille's legacy is carried on by her devoted husband, Lawrence, and her cherished children: Robert Little, Larry Little, Janique Bea, Lashina Bea, and Brison Bea Sr., along with numerous grandchildren and 4 great-grandchildren who brought her immeasurable joy. Her siblings, Linda (John) Sullivan, Rose Johnson, Lesa (Mark) Highsmith, Ollie Johnson, Johnny (Shari) Johnson, Jerry (Cindy) Lewis, and an abundance of nieces, nephews, and cousins also lovingly remember her warm spirit.
Lucille was preceded in death by her parents; sons Darrell Little and Allen Johnson; brothers Willie "Big Man" Johnson, Albert "Just June" Johnson Jr., and Lyndon Baines Johnson; and sister Letha Knox.
Funeral services will be held in celebration of her remarkable life at 12:00 p.m. (noon) on Friday, July 11, 2025, at Wheelan-Pressly Funeral Home and Crematory, located at 3030 7th Avenue, Rock Island, Illinois. The service was recorded and can be viewed at https://vimeo.com/1100864406/74c83cf56f?share=copy . Visitation will take place two hours prior to the service, starting at 10:00 a.m. and concluding at 12:00 p.m. Following the services, per Lucille's wishes, cremation will take place.
In honor of her memory, memorials may be made to the family.
Lucille Bea's spirit lives on in the hearts of those she touched. She will be deeply missed but will forever remain a source of inspiration, love, and warmth to all who had the privilege of knowing her.
