Lucille Johnson Marquardt, 88, of Rock Island, died Friday, August 5, 2022 at Silver Cross Pavilion at Friendship Manor, Rock Island.  Funeral services will be 2 pm Wednesday, August 10, 2022 at Immanuel Lutheran Church, 3300 24th street, Rock Island.  Visitation will be from 1-2 pm Wednesday at church.  Cremation rites will follow.  A private inurnment will take place at Our Redeemer Lutheran Cemetery, Staplehurst, Neb.

In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made in care of the Lutheran Hour Ministries or Immanuel Lutheran Church, Rock Island.  Wheelan-Pressly Funeral Home and Crematory, Rock Island, is assisting the family.

Lucille was born on May 13, 1934 in Friend, Neb., a daughter of Herman and Ruth Eurich Johnson.  She was baptized June 10, 1934 at St. John's Lutheran Church, Cordova, Neb.

Lucille attended grade school in Beaver Crossing, Neb. and Immanuel Lutheran in Staplehurst, Neb.  She graduated from Concordia High School in Seward, Neb. and attended college there.

In 1954 she was united in marriage to Leonard Marquardt.  They were blessed with six children, Timothy, Stephen, Terry, Daniel, David and Douglas.

Lucille and Leonard have lived in Staplehurst, Neb., Billings, Mont., Tinley Park, Ill. and Rock Island, Ill.

Those left to cherish her memory include her husband of 68 years, Leonard Marquardt, Rock Island; sons, Timothy (Kristin) Marquardt, Montgomery, Ala., Terry (Marcia) Marquardt, Brookfield, Wisc., Daniel (Deborah) Marquardt, Cincinnati, Ohio, David (Denice) Marquardt, Libertyville, Ill. and Douglas (Jacki) Marquardt, Iowa City, Iowa; eleven grandchildren; five great-grandchildren; and brothers, Herman Johnson, Norman (Marilyn) Johnson and Maurice (Cheri) Johnson.

She was preceded in death by her parents, son, Stephen Marquardt and brother, Merle Johnson.
