Lucretia A. "Lou" Johnson, 84, of Rock Island, passed away Tuesday, February 21, 2023, at her home. Visitation will be held from 1 to 2 p.m. Friday, February 24, 2023, at Wheelan-Pressly Funeral Home and Crematory, 3030 7th Avenue, Rock Island. Burial will follow in Rock Island Memorial Park Cemetery.

Lou was born January 27, 1939, in Center Township, Iowa, a daughter of William and Marjorie (Reeder) Brich. She attended Alleman High School and graduated in 1957. Lou married David E. Johnson on December 17, 1960, in Rock Island. She retired from AT&T, formerly Illinois Bell Telephone Company in 1991. Lou was very involved throughout her life, including memberships in the AT&T Telephone Pioneers, Rock Island Fitness Center, YMCA, and the Alleman Class of 1957. In her early years, she was a Girl Scout troop leader and enjoyed bowling, traveling with her husband in their RV, visiting her family in Missouri, and traveling around the world to visit her daughter and grandchildren. Lou recently enjoyed completing crosswords, watching Wheel of Fortune and Jeopardy, and taking care of her cat, Miss Fancy Pants.

Those left to honor Lou's memory include her husband of 63 years, David; daughter, Cindy (James) Wetzel, Bellevue, NE; grandchildren, Patrick (Maribeth) Wetzel Scott and Katie (Thomas) Nassiff; and great-granddaughter, Adelaide Wetzel Scott.

Lou was preceded in death by her parents; and siblings, William Brich and Marcie Graham.
