IN LOVING MEMORY OF
Lucy E.
Shadden
July 25, 2009 – February 8, 2025
It is with heavy hearts that we announce the passing of Lucy E. Shadden, a beloved daughter, sister, and friend, who left this world too soon on February 8, 2025, at the tender age of 15. Born on July 25, 2009, in Moline, Illinois, the daughter of Brent and Heather (Kernan) Shadden. Lucy brightened the lives of all who knew her during her cherished time where she was a student in the Pleasant Valley School District. She will be greatly missed by her teachers, friends, and aids.
Lucy was known for her gentle spirit, fierce determination, and an infectious smile that could light up any room. Her days were filled with laughter alongside her loving mother, Heather Shadden, and her devoted brothers, Caleb, Blake, and Shawn. She deeply cherished family moments.
In the face of unimaginable grief, Lucy's legacy continues through the selfless act of organ donation. Even in her passing, she shines brightly, a candle of hope for those in need.
Funeral services will be held to celebrate the beautiful life of Lucy E. Shadden at 10 am Monday, February 17, 2025, at Wheelan-Pressly Funeral Home and Crematory, 3030 7th Avenue, Rock Island, Illinois. A time of visitation is scheduled to take place from 1-4 pm Sunday, February 16, 2025, at the funeral home. All who know Lucy are invited to join in the remembrance, sharing stories and memories that forever carry her spirit with us. Cremation rites will follow the services. Memorial gifts and contributions may be made in care of Shadden family who will be establishing a fund for the future "Lucy's Playground."
Those left to cherish her memory include her mother, Heather Shadden, Le Claire, IA; brothers, Caleb and Blake Shadden and Shawn Housby; grandparents, Shelly (Joe) Martin, Davenport, IA, Pat (Chun) Kernan, Rock Island, IL, and Bob Shadden, Davenport, IA; great-grandpa, Pat Kernan; great-grandma, Jeannie Docherty; uncles, Ryan (Katie) Shadden and Nick (Kayley) Martin; aunts, Amanda (Abe) Bautista and Paige Martin; and numerous cousins.
