Luella L. Taube, 89, of Milan, died Thursday, December 10, 2015 at her home.
A Mass of Christian Burial will be 10 am Saturday at St. Ambrose Catholic Church, Milan. Burial is at Calvary Cemetery, Rock Island. Visitation is 5 to 8 pm Friday at the Wheelan-Pressly Funeral Home, Milan, where a Christian wake service will be held at 5 pm. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to St. Ambrose Catholic Church, or to the American Cancer Society.
Luella Louise Begyn was born June 4, 1926 in Moline, a daughter of Maurice and Hermiena Janssens Begyn. She married Kenneth G. Taube on June 5, 1948 in Matherville. He died March 21, 1998.
Luella had been a secretary / bookkeeper for the Howard Blakely Insurance Agency and previously worked 17 years for the Larson Agency in Milan. In early years, she worked as a tax accountant for Harry Weisman and later for Harms and Nicholson.
She was a member of St. Ambrose Catholic Church, Milan and the former Our Lady of Perpetual Help Circle 532 Daughters of Isabella. She was a past president of the Thomas Jefferson Elementary School PTA and Milan Woman's Club. Luella was a former member of the Milan Lion's Club and had been a volunteer with the Trinity Medical Center Auxiliary and the Retired Senior Volunteer Program (R.S.V.P.).
Survivors include her sons and daughters-in-law, Kent and Joanne Taube, Coal Valley and Gary and Jane Taube, Cedar Rapids, Iowa; daughter and son-in-law, Cindy and Rick Sievertsen, Cedar Rapids; grandchildren, Shane Taube, Kathy (Grant) Kuch, Dan Taube (Megan Wisecup), Meghan (Adam) Sievertsen Miller, and Tyler Sievertsen, ; great-grandchildren, Braxtyn Taube, Kashmere Drummond Taube, Ellie Miller, Lance Boyd, Kaeden Kuch and Addison Taube; sister, Lillian DeSmet, East Moline; sisters-in-law, Dorothy Begyn, Andalusia and Sharon Begyn, East Moline; and nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her parents; husband, Kenneth; brothers, Daniel and John Begyn, and infant brother, Louis.
