Lurae Elaine Mueller, 92 of Postville, Iowa formerly of Edgington, Illinois passed away Friday, January 31, 2025 at Northgate Care Center in Waukon, Iowa. Lurae was born May 23, 1932 to Lester and Leona (Seidel) Paridon at St. Luke's Hospital in Davenport, Iowa. She graduated from Rock Island High School in 1949. Lurae continued her education at Moline Public Hospital Nursing School and earned her RN degree in 1952.

On December 1, 1956, Lurae was united in marriage with Wayne H. Mueller in Taylor Ridge, Illinois. Two sons were born to this union, Mark and Barry. Lurae worked as a Registered Nurse before becoming a Teacher Aide at the Edgington Grade School, where she worked until her retirement in 1988. She was a member of the Zion Lutheran Church in Taylor Ridge, Illinois and also a member at St. Paul Lutheran Church in Postville, Iowa. Lurae served on the Mental Health Board in Moline, the Aloha Council for the Blind and was a member of the support group for the blind.

Lurae was an avid reader, an excellent cook and enjoyed collecting cookbooks. Lurae and Wayne spent their winters on the Island of Kauai, Hawaii from 1989 until 2013. Lurae especially enjoyed being a grandmother to Bryan and Jason. She spent half of many summers transporting them to their activities and cheering them on as they played baseball, summer basketball, and competed on swim team. She made wonderful meals and lots of cookies. Lurae played many card and board games with her grandsons and their friends.

Surviving Lurae are her son, Barry (Sue) Mueller of Postville, Iowa; grandsons, Bryan (Susie) Mueller and their son Emmett of Postville, Iowa and Jason (Christine Lai) Mueller of Boronia, Victoria, Australia; and several nieces and nephews.

Preceding Lurae in death were her husband, Wayne Mueller on March 29, 2014; son, Mark Mueller; parents, Lester and Leona Paridon; sister Nona Lee Williams; and a niece, Lori Brown.

A memorial visitation will take place on Friday, May 2, 2025 from 12:30 – 2 pm at the Zion Lutheran Church Parish Hall, 18121 134th Avenue West, Taylor Ridge, Illinois 61284.  A graveside service will take place immediately following the visitation at Zion Lutheran Cemetery, Taylor Ridge.
