Lyle A. Vroman, 93, of Rock Island, passed away peacefully on Friday, March 18, 2016 at the Silver Cross Health and Rehabilitation Pavilion at Friendship Manor, Rock Island.  Funeral services will be 2:00pm Tuesday at Wheelan-Pressly Funeral Home & Crematory, 201 4th Ave E., Milan.  Visitation will be held one hour prior to services at the funeral home.  Private inurnment with military honors will be held at a later date in Edgington Cemetery.  Memorials may be made in care of the family.

Lyle was born on February 12, 1923 in Edgington, Rock Island Co., a son of Henry J. and Estelle Gould Vroman.  He married Esther Padget on January 25, 1953 in Davenport, Iowa.  She passed away on May 17, 2014.

Mr. Vroman  proudly served his country in the U.S. Army during the end of World War II in the Pacific Theater.  Lyle retired from the Moline Fire Department at the rank of Assistant Chief with 25 years of service.  He was a past commander of the Milan American Legion Post 569.  Lyle also held several other offices at the state level of the American Legion and at Rushville Post 4.

Lyle enjoyed spending time with his family, fishing, yard work and gardening.

Left to cherish his memory are his children (and spouses), Tate (Mary Ann) Vroman, Illinois City, Riley (Judy) Vroman, Andalusia, Marie (Sam) Weindruck, Summit, AR, Connie (Kelly) Smithhart, Concrete, WA, Debbie (Mike) Day, Apache Junction, AZ; 11 grandchildren, several great grandchildren; brother, Floyd (Zita) Vroman, Moline; and many other loving family members and friends.
