Lynne J. Bond, 68, of Andalusia, IL, passed away peacefully on Friday, April 10, 2026, at UnityPoint Trinity, Rock Island, IL, surrounded by her loving family.
Graveside services will be held at 12:00 p.m. on Friday, April 17, 2026, at National Cemetery, Rock Island Arsenal, IL, with military honors. Those wishing to attend are asked to meet at 11:00 a.m. at Wheelan-Pressly Funeral Home, 201 East 4th Avenue, Milan, IL, to proceed in procession. A Celebration of Life will follow at 1:00 p.m. at the Milan American Legion, Milan, IL. Memorials may be made to the Milan American Legion.
Lynne was born on August 19, 1957, in Richland Center, WI, the daughter of Lyle and Sharon (Haskins) Lathrop. She was raised on a dairy farm, where she learned the value of hard work and developed the strong, independent spirit that defined her life.
She married her loving husband, William “Bill” Bond, on November 6, 1987, in Lake Tahoe, CA.
A proud U.S. Army SSG, Lynne served her country with honor and had the opportunity to travel the world. Her service took her to Italy, Arizona, California, Germany, and Maryland; experiences she carried with her throughout her life. Following her military service, she continued her career with the U.S. Government until her retirement in 2010. She was also a dedicated member of the Milan American Legion and Honor Guard.
Lynne had a personality that filled a room. She had a special love for online shopping and looked forward to her almost daily deliveries with excitement. If reading tabloid magazines were an Olympic sport, Lynne would have been a gold medalist year-round.
She found joy in life’s simple pleasures, but nothing brought her more happiness than time spent with her family.
Above all, Lynne treasured her role as “Gigi” to her grandchildren, who were the center of her universe.
She is survived by her husband, Bill; her children, Jesse (Sina) Bond of Bruchmuehlbach, Germany, and Brandy (Matthew) Mueller of Bettendorf, IA; her cherished grandchildren, Jayden Bond, Knox Mueller, Sawyer Mueller, and Sloan Mueller; her siblings, Leslie Lathrop of Juda, WI, Leanne Barr of Soldiers Grove, WI, and Lyle Lathrop of Boscobel, WI; as well as many beloved nieces and nephews.
Preceded in death by her beloved parents, Lyle and Sharon (Haskins) Lathrop.
