Macario Lopez Zabala, 76, of Moline, passed away Saturday, June 17, 2023, at UnityPoint Health-Trinity, Rock Island. Funeral services will be held at 10:00am Saturday, June 24, 2023, at the KNOX CHAPEL of Wheelan-Pressly Funeral Home and Crematory, 2106 7th Avenue, Rock Island. Visitation will be held from 4:00 to 7:00pm Friday, June 23, 2023, at the KNOX CHAPEL of Wheelan-Pressly Funeral Home and Crematory, 2106 7th Avenue, Rock Island. Burial will be in Rock Island Memorial Park Cemetery. Memorials may be made to the family to be established at a later date.

Macario was born June 19, 1946, in Guanajuato, Mexico, a son of Macario Lopez Sr. and Epigmenia Zabala. He attended school in Mexico before moving to the United States. Macario married Deborah Voorhis on August 25, 1984, in Rock Island. She preceded him in death on July 18, 2009. Later in Mexico, he married Marta Carrillo Rico. Macario retired as a welder from Midland Davis in 2011 after working 36 years. He enjoyed being outdoors, fishing, gardening, and having family cookouts. Macario was a hard worker and could always be found tinkering with something. Above all, he was a loving father and grandpa. Macario cherished time spent with his family.

Survivors include his sons, Victor Voorhis (Crystal), Valentin Voorhis (Adriana), Michael Voorhis Sr. (Tobie), and Anthony Voorhis (Lindsay); daughter, Marisela Lopez (Josue); stepdaughter, Maria Carrillo; 14 grandchildren; 1 great-grandchild; 3 brothers; and 3 sisters.

Macario was preceded in death by his parents; wife, Deborah; and 1 sister.
