Madelyn I. Yarbrough-Fredrickson, 93, of Cordova, went to be with the Lord on Monday, July 20, 2015 at Good Samaritan Society, Geneseo Village. Services will be 1 p.m. Thursday at Wheelan-Pressly Funeral Home, Rock Island. Visitation will be from 4-6 p.m. Wednesday at the funeral home. Burial will be at Memorial Park Cemetery, Rock Island. Memorials may be made in care of the family.

Madelyn was born in LaHarpe, Ill. on May 27, 1922, a daughter of Seneca Lee and Mabel Stephens Mount. She married Lester Yarbrough. They later divorced. She then married Harold Fredrickson who preceded her in death in 1971.

Madelyn was a fashionable women who especially enjoyed wearing hats. She also loved drawing, painting, sewing, traveling and birds. She had many bird houses around her home. She even had a bird that came by for a personal bath for three straight years!

Madelyn had a passion for children. She enjoyed babysitting her grandchildren as well as many other children. She was an extremely loving and caring person who had a heart bigger than the world.

Survivors include her children (and spouses), June (Pete) Grindley, Rock Island, Virginia "Eileen" (Kenny) Schipper, Cordova, Iris Le Yarbrough, Fulton, Ill., Glen Yarbrough, and Sue Ellen (Jeff) Attwood, Bloomington, Ill.; 16 grandchildren; 22 great-grandchildren; 26 great-great-grandchildren; 1 brother; and 3 sisters.

She was preceded in death by her husband, parents, brother, Walter, and sisters, Idell, Maxine and Katherine.
