Mamon Hill, 89, of Rock Island, passed away Saturday, December 16, 2017 at his home.  Funeral services will be held at 11:00 a.m. on Wednesday at Second Baptist Church, Rock Island.  Visitation will be one hour prior to services at the church.  Burial will be in Riverside Cemetery, Moline.  Memorials may be made to the Alzheimer's Association.

Mamon was born on September 16, 1928 in Homer, Louisiana, a son of Louis and Maggie Mae (Kilgo) Hill.  He married Bernice Johnson on January 24, 1945 in Camden, Ark.  She passed away on October 22, 2014.  Mamon worked at John Deere for over 35 years, first pouring steel and later he worked on the assembly line.  He was a proud member of Second Baptist Church in Rock Island, where he was also a member of the men's choir.

Left to cherish his memory are his children, Mary Culver-Jackson, Robert L. Hill and Steven D. Hill, all of Rock Island; numerous grandchildren, great grandchildren and great great grandchildren; and many other loving family members and friends.

He was preceded in death by his wife, Bernice; children, Herschel, Maggie, Michael and Carl Hill; a brother and 2 sisters.
