Marcelline "Marcie" Kaiser (Dakota Name: Zitkadan Tokahe Win, "First Bird Woman"), 101, of Rock Island, passed away Sunday August 11, 2024 at her home, surrounded by her family. She was the oldest living member of the Santee Sioux Nation.
A funeral service will be held at 11:00 am on Thursday, August 15, 2024 at Trinity Anglican Church, 1818 6th Ave, Rock Island. Visitation will be held starting at 6:00 pm on Tuesday and Wednesday at church. Burial will be in Rock Island National Cemetery, Arsenal Island. Memorials may be made in care of Trinity Anglican Church Altar Guild.
Marcie was born on June 20, 1923 in Lindy, Nebraska, the daughter of Guy and Ione (Cote) Lawrence. She married Harvey Kaiser on October 22, 1945 in Yankton, South Dakota and he preceded her in death on June 3, 1960.
She had been employed at the Rock Island Arsenal for several years in the small arms shop, until her retirement in 1988.
She was a devoted member of Trinity Anglican Church, Rock Island, where she served as the director of the Alter Guild for 30 years, a member of the St. Margaret's Guild and Vestry for 2 terms.
Marcie's hobbies included going on bus trips, traveling, theater, bowling, and jazzercize. She enjoyed her trips to Nebraska to attend annual pow wows at the reservation. Marcie's greatest joy came from spending time with friends and family.
Those left to cherish her memory include her sons, Douglas Kaiser, Moline and Rodney Kaiser, Rock Island; grandsons, Sean (Niki Stoneking) Kaiser, Rock Island and Steve (Jen) Kaiser, Colona; many grandchildren, great-grandchildren and great-great-grandchildren; nieces, nephews and cousins; and close friends, Phyllis, Donna and Greg, Ronnie and Emmalee.
She was preceded in death by her parents; sisters, Marie and Linda; and daughter in law, Anne Kaiser.
The family would like to thank everyone for their love and support in helping care for Marcie around the clock.
