Marcia Rae Barr Hines Stevenson, 80, of Milan, passed away on Thursday, March 22, 2018 at UPH-Trinty, Rock Island, after a courageous battle with cancer.
Funeral services are 10 am Thursday, March 29, at Wheelan-Pressly Funeral Home and Crematory, Milan. Visitation will be from 4-7 pm Wednesday, March 28 at the funeral home.
Burial will be at Chippiannock Cemetery, Rock Island.
Memorials may be left to Chippiannock Cemetery Heritage Foundation.
Marcia was born on Dec. 5, 1937 in Moline, to Charles O. and Effie Rumpel Barr. She was the youngest of seven kids.
She married William E. "Bumpy" Hines on Aug. 8, 1953 in Burlington, IA. He preceded her in death on Apr. 19, 1966. This union brought into this world two boys, William and Dewey.
She then married Kermit A. "Steve" Stevenson on Feb. 6, 1969 in Milan, IL. He preceded her in death on May 30, 1994. This union brought into this world a daughter, Tracey.
She was a homemaker, who had several jobs out of the home, but was mainly a crossing guard for Thomas Jefferson School on Highway 67 for many years.
She is survived by her son, Dewey (Kim) Hines and daughter, Tracey (Scott) McVay, both of Milan; Eight grandchildren and 15 great-grandchildren; sister, Carol Pappaspiros; and special nieces, RaeJean Cather and Carolyn Massie; Stepchildren, Ronnie and Kenny Stevenson and Mamie Reynolds and seven step grandchildren. She is also survived by several other family members that loved her dearly.
She was preceded in death by her parents, two husbands, son, William; two sisters, Lois and Jean; and three brothers, Charles, Robert, and Richard and special nieces, Linda Stoye and Sharon Smith.
She enjoyed reading, watching the birds, spending time with her family and taking long drives with her daughter, Tracey.
Casual attire is welcome.
