Marcia Collins Ross, 74, of Marco Island, FL, formerly of Southborough, MA, passed away on Sunday, November 9, 2014 at Naples Community Hospital, Naples, FL. Funeral services will be at 1:00 Friday at the Wheelan-Pressly Funeral Home, 3030 7th Ave, Rock Island, Ill. Visitation will be one hour prior to services at the funeral home. Burial will follow at Chippiannock Cemetery, Rock Island. Memorials may be made to Tufts Cummings School of Veterinary Medicine, Grafton, MA.

She was born on May 2, 1940, in Rock Island, IL, the daughter of Marjorie Collins (Stapp) and Dr. Robert Bruce Collins. After graduating from Rock Island High School, she earned a bachelor's degree in English from DePauw University where she was a member of the Pi Beta Phi sorority and also participated in synchronized swimming. While on a trip abroad during her junior year, she met her husband of 50 years, Dr. James N. Ross Jr. They married in Rock Island in 1964. Marcia taught high school English before devoting herself to being a homemaker. She raised three daughters and her family lived in Houston, TX and Swanton, OH before settling in Southborough, MA for 33 years. Over the years, Marcia greatly enjoyed knitting, reading, playing tennis, and swimming. Recently, she and Jim moved to beautiful Marco Island. She was a caring and devoted wife, mother, and grandmother and will be greatly missed.

Marcia will be lovingly remembered and her memory cherished forever by her husband, daughters, Stephanie Harris and her husband George of Southborough, MA, Amy Tobin and her husband Mike, of Hicksville, OH, and Lisa Ross of Siler City, NC, and five precious grandchildren, Joseph and Matthew Tobin, Hannah and Connor Redding, and Jackson Harris.

Marcia was preceded in death by her parents, sister, Ellen and brother, Clive.
