Margaret G. Danielson, 107, of Rock Island, died Friday, June 15, 2018 at Silver Cross Pavilion at Friendship Manor, Rock Island. Services will be 10 a.m. Tuesday at Wheelan-Pressly Funeral Home and Crematory, Milan. Visitation will be Monday from 4-7 p.m. at the funeral home. Burial will be at Memorial Park Cemetery, Rock Island. Memorials may be made in care of First Presbyterian Church, Milan.
Margaret was born on August 2, 1910 on the family farm in Bowling Township, Milan, Ill. to William R. and Maggie Curry Carothers. She was born the last of 8 children.
Margaret married James G. Danielson on April 6, 1940. He preceded her in death on December 21, 2006.
Margaret and James opened Danielson Coal and Lumber Company in Milan and ran it successfully for many years.
Upon retirement from the coal business, Margaret worked for St. Anthony's Hospital and Franciscan Hospital where she later retired. She volunteered at Lutheran Hospital Gift Shop for many years.
Margaret was a long standing member of First Presbyterian Church of Milan serving as a deacon and greeter along with James.
Survivors include her son and daughter-in-law, Gareld and Judy Danielson, Rock Island; grandchildren, Lori Danielson, Rock Island, Scott (Sonya) Danielson, Bloomington, Ill., David Carlson, Milan, Harry (Chris) Allers, Coal Valley and Kim (Tom) Freeborn, Altoona, Iowa; great-grandchildren, Sam Ferry, Zoey Danielson, Noah Danielson, Harrison Allers, Payton Allers, Jessica (Russell) Wagner and Erica Fosdyck; and great-great-grandchildren, Steven, Kaylee, Emma, Jayden, Markus, Sylis, Mackensie and Mylie.
She was preceded in death by her husband, parents, daughter and son-in-law, Beverly and Russell Allers, son and daughter-in-law, Duaine and Marie Carlson, granddaughter, Kathy Carlson, sisters and brothers-in-law, Hattie (Gus) Grundstrom, Annie (Harry) Blaser, Mary (Warren) Hofer and Mable (Bill) Vetter, brothers and sisters-in-law, Roy, Clifford and Sam (Anna) Carothers and many nieces and nephews whom she loved dearly.
Margaret loved her church family and they were faithful to her with their visits and prayers.
We are very grateful to Silver Cross and their wonderful staff for the excellent care, love and support shown to Margaret and her family.
