Margaret "Peggy" Eileen Heaton, 83, Illinois City, IL passed away on Wednesday, April 26, 2023 at Lutheran Living in Muscatine, IA. Following a private family service, there will be a Celebration of Life at 1:00-3:00 P.M. on Saturday, May 20, 2023 at Riverfront Grille, Rock Island, IL. In lieu of flowers, memorials preferred to Tunnel to Towers, Wounded Warriors, or Kids Club at IL UMC.

Peggy was born June 19, 1939 to John Franklin and Wilma (Morris) Sims in Alexis, IL. After graduating from Rock Island High School, she married Rollin "Ronnie" Heaton on August 30, 1958 at First Lutheran Church in Rock Island. The couple made their home on the farm in Illinois City where they raised their children.

Peggy drove school bus for several years for Rockridge Community School district before starting her career as a rural mail carrier. She worked for the Illinois City Post Office for almost 20 years before retiring in 1998.

Peggy was a member of IL City United Methodist Church and active in their Women's Service Guild and Cookie Walk along with Kids Club. She was involved with Home Extension, PTA, 4-H and served as a Cubs Scouts Leader.

She enjoyed playing cards, bowling, volleyball, crafts, family vacations, yearly travels to Hawaii with Ronnie, but most of all being with family and living life on the farm.

She is survived by her husband of 64 years, Ronnie; children, Arlyn (Dawn) Heaton, Richard (Susanne) Heaton and Susan Martin; son-in-law, Roger Figart; daughter-in-law, Kari Heaton; 13 grandchildren; 8 step-grandchildren; several great-grandchildren; siblings, Joanne Frederick, Carol Ginneberge, Michael (Nancy) Sims; brother-in-law, Gordon Petersen; several nieces and nephews.

She was preceded in death by her parents; children, Cathi Figart and Noah Heaton; step-father, Albert Ginneberge; siblings, Donna Petersen and Bill Sims.
