Obituary

Margie Alice Madden, 86, of Milan, died Tuesday, November 4, 2014 at Friendship Manor Silver Cross Pavilion. A memorial service will be 3:30 p.m. Saturday at Wheelan-Pressly Funeral Home, 201 E. 4th Ave., Milan. Visitation will be Saturday from 2:30 - 3:30 p.m. at the funeral home. Inurnment will be private at Rock Island National Cemetery, Arsenal Island. Memorials may be made in care of the American Cancer Society.

Margie was born in Johnston City, Ill. on February 9, 1928, a daughter of William C. and Mevie C. Lingle Wilkins. She graduated from Rock Island High School, class of 1946. Margie married Edward F. Madden III on February 10, 1946 in Rock Island. He preceded her in death on May 28, 1990.

Margie worked at the Rock Island Arsenal during WWII, Servus Rubber, Brammer Manufacturing, Evans Cleaners, and Watchtower Cleaners, both of Rock Island and lastly, Burke Cleaners in Milan where she retired in 2001.

Margie loved spending time with her family, baking, embroidery and caring for her flower gardens. She always had something "baked" for visitors stopping by.

Survivors include: her children, Edward Francis Madden IV, Phoenix, Ariz., and Sandra (John) Sheffey, and Glenda Madden-Salzmann, both of Milan; grandchildren; Yvette (Scott) Campbell, Brainerd, Minn., John Sheffey Jr., Taylor Ridge, Ill., Melissa Madden, Salt Lake City, Utah, Brandy (Joe) Morrow, Las Vegas, NV, Edward Francis Madden V, Phoenix, Ariz., Marissa Soliz, Davenport and Charlieana Salzmann, Milan; 13 great-grandchildren; one great-great-granddaughter; and sister Peggie Chavez, Davenport.

She was preceded in death by her husband and brothers, Warren, Chester and Glen Wilkins.
