IN LOVING MEMORY OF
Maria Del
Socorro Ramirez-Ramos
December 11, 1957 – January 30, 2015
Maria Del Socorro Ramirez-Ramos, 57, of Rock Island, took her last breathe surrounded by her husband, sons, daughters and grandchildren, Friday, January 30, 2015 in her daughter's residence in Moline. Her family was joyous to see her go home to the Lord and be reunited with mother and father whom she missed her entire life. Cremation rites were accorded. A memorial service will be 3 p.m. Saturday at Wheelan-Pressly Funeral Home, 3030 7th Ave., Rock Island. Visitation will be from 2-3 p.m. Saturday at the funeral home. Memorials may be made in care of the Alzheimer's Association.
Socorro was born in Monte Prieto, Guanajuato, Mexico in 1957 where she resided until her marriage to Jose Luis.
She married Jose Luis in 1973 in Salvatierra, Guanajuato, Mexico and immigrated to the United States in 1977 with her oldest daughter. She and Jose Luis then went on to have four more children and resided in the Quad Cities with her family for the rest of her life.
She was a homemaker for the majority of her life and loved to walk, garden, bake, crochet, chauffer Jose Luis around, visit friends and family and cook for her family. Her specialty foods were mole and tamales; she would bake cakes for kids on their birthdays.
Socorro was clever, outspoken, and always spoke her mind. She loved her children and grandchildren and had a precise expert aim when catapulting 'la chancla' at her five kids (the grandchildren were spared).
Survivors include, her husband, Jose Luis Ramirez, Rock Island; children, Alicia Ramirez-Gomez, Rock Island, Maria Elena Ramirez-Sierra, Moline, Antonio Ramirez, Rock Island, Alejandro Ramirez, Des Moines, Iowa and Rigoberto Ramirez, Moline; and 19 grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by her parents, three brothers and one sister.
