Marian Strayer, 93, of Fort Myers, Florida, formerly of Milan, Illinois, passed away peacefully on Tuesday, July 28, 2026. Marian was born in Lindsay, Nebraska, to Joseph H. and Clara (Behrens) Parr. Marian married George (Dugan) Strayer on June 21, 1952, in Rock Island, IL. She attended school in Rock Island, IL and carried the pride of being part of a historic milestone, graduating as a member of the very first class of Alleman High School in 1950.

A generous and devoted mother of two daughters, Marian balanced her cherished family life with a successful career. She found great fulfillment working at John Deere Industrial Equipment Company in Moline, Illinois, where she grew to lead as the Supervisor of the Government Sales Department, retiring with pride in May 1992. Her devotion to John Deere was more than just a career, it was a passion she carried proudly throughout her life.

She treasured the peace of her summer cabin on Little Whitefish Lake in Garrison Minnesota, a place where she delighted in fishing, surrounded by the natural beauty she always cherished. Marian's legacy is carried on by her daughters Karen (Michael) DePew, Graham, WA and Kristine (Edward) Ryan, Fort Myers, FL; grandchildren, Matthew (Christina) DePew, Mitchell (Jamie) DePew, Jacob (Lalitta) DePew, Lauren DePew, Austin (Isabel) Ryan and 13 great-grandchildren; along with several nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her husband George, two infant sons who died at birth, parents; brothers, Alvin and Mark Parr; and sisters, Lorene Tady and Wilma (Toodie) Mitchell.

Marian leaves behind a lasting legacy defined by her unwavering devotion, resilient strength and an abundance of laughter and joy that touched all who knew her. She will be deeply missed and forever cherished by her loving family and all whose lives she brightened.

Visitation will be held Tuesday, August 11, 2026, from 9:30 am to 10:30 am at Wheelan-Pressly Funeral Home and Crematory, Milan. A Mass of Christian Burial will be held directly following the visitation at 11:00 am, at St Teresa of Calcutta Parish - St. Ambrose Church, Milan. Burial will follow at Rock Island National Cemetery. Memorials may be made to any Hospice organization.
